We took a trip to Hungarian Falls and Douglass Houghton Falls. The Hungarian Falls were almost dried up, but the DH falls were flowing pretty nicely. These are both within 30 minutes of our apartment!
Ryan was trying to kiss me, but I'm not sure why he was waving his arms
Douglass Houghton Falls. We couldn't find them at first, but someone who lives nearby told us that we could cut through her yard. Her only condition was that we made sure her cat (who Katrina named Felix) followed us back. We laughed inwardly, thinking that we couldn't possibly be expected to have a cat tag along with us. Felix came all the way to the bottom of the waterfall with us, following right along with Ryan. He then followed us back up, and to his house! What a nut of cat.
Hungarian Falls
They cooperated surprisingly well!
Katrina and I stood at the rock that's at the bottom of the falls
Ryan and I (but mostly Ryan) created a new pathway for the water to run through. Our goal was to refill the water source for the main waterfall- I'm sure our efforts saved the falls and generations to come will thank us!

K so the pic of ryan and katrina... they cooperated b/c the truth is that they really do love eachother... they just dont want peopel to know it. :-)
Thanks for the cool waterfall pictures, Abby! We vacationed in the UP when I was a kid, and I always loooooved the waterfalls best, and your story reminded me of a couple times Dad got lost trying to find the more obscure ones. Also, kitties who follow you around like they are dogs....pretty funny, but also bothersome at times. I don't mind when they follow me around the yard, as long as they stay out of the way of my shovel. But, last night Lynne and I tucked the cranky Jamison into the jogging stroller for a ride, to coax him into a nap. Suddenly *3* kitties mysteriously materialized from the netherlands of our yard and followed us all the way to our neighbors', and would've followed us the whole walk if we'd not turned back and put them in the garage to save them from the cars.... (Yes, we Hunters are big on saving innocent creatures from evil automobiles :)
What beautiful pictures! I think I am going to enlarge the one of Katrina and Ryan and have it framed for above the piano. Maybe we'll have a spotlight installed, too.
I'm glad you are having a great time, but it's time for Trina to come home because you know who we make do everything around here...
Love you, Mom
